2 Desert Lexus Jazz

The iconic band Tower of Power has just been added to the talent lineup for the Desert Lexus Jazz Festival presented by the City of Indian Wells, a premier concert event in the Coachella Valley for the past 15 years to be held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden on Saturday, May 2. The band joins Grammy Award winning vocalist Lisa Fischer and Grand Baton, who will open the evening at 7:00 p.m. followed by Tower of Power at 8:30 p.m. Tickets for the event, featuring these exciting performers are now on sale. For almost five decades, Tower of Power has produced some of the best music in Rhythm & Blues with a timeless sound that is suitable for all ages. Tower of Power has performed in front of sold out crowds throughout the United States, Japan and Europe, touring with world-renowned acts such as Journey and Steve Miller Band. After 45 years the band continues to bring its legendary tunes around the world, hitting the road for most of 2014. “We’re excited to bring our sound to the City of Indian Wells and perform at a world-class venue,” said band leader Emilio Castillo. “Desert Lexus Jazz continues to attract some of the best artists in the industry, and we’re thrilled to add our name to the list.” The event will be held under the Indian Wells Tennis Garden’s shade pavilion, offering seating for 2,000 patrons. 9 Evening Under the Stars’ 2015 Gala

'Evening Under the Stars' is the AIDS Assistance Program's cornerstone annual gala fundraiser that yearly generates a major portion of the operating budget for our Food Voucher Program for low-income men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS here in the Coachella Valley. Our previous year's galas have accounted for more than half of our annual food voucher expenses while providing guests with a unique gala experience. The 2015 gala will continue this tradition, which the local Desert Sun newspaper has called "The Jewel of the Desert's fundraising Season". In the past years, 'Evening Under the Stars' has featured the talents of Nell Carter, Tyne Daly, Melissa Manchester, Jane Oliver, Lorna Luft, Suzanne Somers, Bea Arthur and our 10th anniversary spectacular highlighted Barry Manilow and his orchestra. Ms. Nancy Wilson headlined our 2004 gala with the Las Vegas Rat Pack & the Dry Martini Orchestra as our opening. 2005 showcased the legendary talents of Ms. Lily Tomlin, 2006 saw a return of Barry Manilow with his new Las Vegas Review, 2007 and 2009 showcased the legendary talents of Mary Wilson of the Supremes, and 2008 presented Pink Martini. Our 2010 event featured the music of ABBA performed by ARRIVAL (direct from Sweden) and featured some of ABBA's original musicians, our 2011 event featured the B-52's, and the house rocked in 2012 with The Go-Go's! For 2013, the remarkable Cyndi Lauper helped us celebrate the 20th Evening Under the Stars. Most recently we made history with The First Ladies of Disco: Alfa Anderson, Linda Clifford, Norma Jean, France Joli, Evelyn “Champagne” King, Luci Martin, Charlene Moore, Maxine Nightingale, Pamala Stanley, Jeanie Tracy, Anita Ward, and Martha Wash – who brought the house down and made Evening Under the Stars such a wonderful success!  Join them Saturday, May 9, 2015 as they welcome the legendary Darlene Love! 5:30pm. Founded in 2000 by the late mystery author and Palm Springs community leader Arthur Lyons, this unique festival features an eclectic mixture of landmark and obscure vintage movies from the classic film noir era. Laden with period post war cynicism, these glorious black and white films are filled with suspense, sexuality and crime portrayed from the perspective of the criminals. Don’t miss the dynamic sounds, the rich colorful costumes and the cultural celebration of the Mariachi Festival in the Spotlight Showroom on Saturday, May 16th.  Mariachi Sol De Mexico de Jose Hernandez is a Grammy-nominated and platinum selling group that have performed to sold out audiences around the world for over 30 years. Graciela Beltrán is a Mexican singer and actress who relocated with her family to the Los Angeles area at the age of six, when she began performing at restaurants and fiestas. Beltrán was included on the album Las Reinas Del Pueblo, with famous Mexican-American singer Selena, which has sold over 5 million copies world-wide. And, Mariachi Reyna De Los Angeles is the first female mariachi ensemble in the United States. 23 R. Kelly

Named by Billboard Magazine as the most successful R&B/Hip Hop artist in history, rapper R. 30 Jo Jo Jorge Falcon

A legend in the Mexican entertainment community, “Jo Jo” Jorge Falcon is coming back to the Spotlight Showroom on Saturday, May 30! Instantly recognizable with his shock of wild hard and sly smile, Falcon rose to fame headlining comedy clubs and theaters. He gained popularity on the Mexican talk show circuit where he continues to entertain audiences with his unique humor. On stage, Falcon connects with audiences through his humorous and at times, bawdy interpretation of everyday mishaps and stories. TBD WorkshopWORKS Opening Reception in Zone 101

Join us for the Opening Reception of WorkshopWORKS in Zone 101 on the museum’s main level at 6 p.m.  The Artists Council provides 12 Workshops (3 to 5 days in length) and 32 Life Drawing Sessions on scheduled Saturdays througout the year.  WorkshopWORKS is the annual juried exhibition of artwork created in these workshops.
